Shows Featured in the 2015-16 Season were:
THE CHILDREN’S HOUR
By Lillian Hellman
Drama – Directed by Grace Hopkins & Ben Tosh
September 2nd – 5th 2015
Mary didn’t want to return to boarding school so made up a story about the joint headmistresses, who became embroiled in a whirlwind of attention that rips their lives apart. This powerful tale of deceit, shame and courage was initially banned in UK, and today its portrayal of lies, gossip, bullying and scandal are just as prevalent and damaging as when it was premiered in 1934. The cast of this production featured members of the Chipstead Players Youth Theatre, as well as adult members.
ARSENIC & OLD LACE
By Joseph Kesselring
Farce – Directed by Eve Manghani
October 19th-24th 2015
Martha and Abby Brewster combine their hobby with charitable work: befriend lonely, religious men and help them to Heaven by poisoning. Could their nephew stop the spinsters’ murderous spree, maybe keep them from prison? And what about the other nephew and his “unofficial practice” that left him looking oddly like Boris Karloff? Or even nephew Teddy, who was digging the Panama Canal – in the basement! It was all uproariously, hilariously insane.
